Some other jerk in Sweden has found it amusing to draw a caricature of Prophet Muhammad’s head on a dog’s body.
That’s it. There’s no joke or amusing situation or funny tag, to justify a caricature.
It’s just pure insult.
How, how petty.
My main question though is: why? Why insult Muslims, around the beginning of their holy month of Ramadan?
The cartoonist had this to say: “It is fundamental for Western thinking to be able to express one's artistry without making exceptions for holiness”.
‘Western thinking’ my eye. We tought you how to think for yourselves.
The prick - and his editor - were just looking for cheap advertisement, and they’re getting that. They’ll also, incidentally, hurt the feelings of millions of people. And if, like last year, things get out of hand - a few lives.
And, ‘artistry’? His drawing is so bad my 3-year old niece can outdo him with her left foot. Jeez.
Well done. They’re getting their publicity alright. And a place in the Hall of Shame of Mankind.
I wonder how this will unfold - and, particularly, how the Swedish authorities will handle the issue.
Personally, I'm more than willing to boycott Ikea.

Pure insult and ignorance I guess. Many westerns have a very biased vision of Islam seen as an obscure and 'liberticide' (don't know the english word...) religion.
I very rarely hear the view that the Muslin religion was responsible for teaching the Western population how to think. Could you give more detail on that point? (Your B+ Poster)

Thanks for dropping by!!
BeePlus (can I call you BeePlus? I like better than ‘Anonymous’). Hehehe. I added this line in the second draft and I was sure it’d tick off someone... :)
Gladly. What I specifically had in mind when I was saying that ‘Western thinking’ originated in the East, is about this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_method. The ‘scientific method’, wrongfully attributed to a 16th century Englishman by the name of Sir Francis Bacon, was actually the brainchild of AlHassan Ibn Al Haytham http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibn_Al-Haytham, (965 - 1039). The whole ‘Experience/ Hypothesis/ Deduction/ Experiment to prove or disprove’ loop, which is the basis of our (collective) scientific growth and, essentially, our civilisation.
The ‘Scientific Method’ - once referred to as the Baconian Method, did originate from the Muslim World.
HtuR, hola carino!!! I read the article and frankly, I think the dude is an asshole. Though now I think that not only he’s a failed caricaturist, he’s also a racist pig. Apparently, not only is he seeking cheap worldwide advertisement, he’s attempting to subdue, to tame the Swedish Muslim population into essentially swallowing the insults and bowing their heads. Sorry, this is disgusting.
On the article itself - hey, I understood it, ha! - and "La religión musulmana no puede quedar exenta de crítica y sátira" is just a hypocritical title. I’m down with critique. Drawing the Prophet’s head on a dog’s body does not qualify as either critique or satire, just insult to a person we hold dear. Simply.
And no country declared ‘holy war’ on Jyllands Posten in 2006. Western press just loves the word ‘holy war’, it’s silly.
Beso!
