(* egyptian proverb - 'Necessity is the mother of Invention').
The previous post got me depressed! So here's something that is a little less sad..
A 22-year old Palestinian woman has invented special socks to help people suffering from swollen feet as they wait at Israeli military checkpoint.
I'd be curious to see those :) Apparently they're so big you need bigger shoes. But hey, I'm sure it's worth it: with people often waiting hours and hours standing at checkpoints, it sounds like a good idea to invest in a pair of 'watersocks' (because it's a sock that feels like a waterbed).
Oh, and she's looking for seed money. Anyone wants to fund her project? (I wish I could tell her to check out www.kiva.com or something...) (if you don't know Kiva, by the way, take a look!)
